Singing Myths 3, 2, 1...

#2 Some people cannot sing.

False. After teaching for 25 years, it is my belief that everyone has the ability to sing, but it is not true that everyone has the desire to sing. It is also true that some people do not want to practice singing in order to improve. An interesting phenomenon is the singer/songwriter/instrumentalist who practices their physical instrument but not their singing voice. Why is it that there exist singers who do not practice singing? As I said, everyone has the ability to sing, and it is my desire to encourage people to sing their best. The bottom line is that singing takes practice as does any other skill.

So many people have approached me to say that a teacher or friend asked them not to sing at some point in their formative years because they "couldn't sing." That is utterly false. From now on, you must know that you are able to sing. So, if this your desire , please start investing time in learning.
